The Future of Composting

Compost is an organic matter that is broken down into simpler organic or inorganic matter in a process called composting. This process recycles various organic materials otherwise regarded as waste products and produces a soil conditioner.

Composting has been done through the decades, but there is no fixed evidence as to when it all started. Since a long time, we have been using home-based composting before all the chemical fertilizers were developed. The animal manure and kitchen waste were popularly used to harvest crops. With the age of technological development, the chemical fertilizers have been at its peaks degrading the quality of soil, water and the crops yielded as well. This is turn is damaging the eco-system we live in.

There is increasing concern about soil interrelated environmental problems such as soil degradation, desertification, erosion, and loss of fertility (European Commission 2006). These problems are partially a consequence of the decline in organic matter content in soils. This organic matter has been damaged and almost extinct by the use of compost and fertilizers we use today.

If we are to continue this in future and forgetting the purest form of using compost then, the world would be full of people suffering from health issues. The compost we make at home may not be suitable in today's soil because the damage we have made to the soil and water is not replaceable.

A special ingredient with formula is added in the compost we make at Rikishi Compost, where the quality of the soil and water is improved from worse to better. The compost we make might not give an instant change because the degradation of the soil depends on the amount and the years of chemicals have been used on the soil for harvest. However, we have evidence of research conducted about our compost improving the quality of the soil resulting in a good harvest with delicious taste and texture.

Rikishi Compost's aim to make a better future for the world we live in by irradiating the use of poisonous chemicals which is a slow poison for all of us.
