WHAT IS A LANDFILL?

A landfill site, also known as a tip, dump, rubbish dump, garbage dump, or dumping ground, is a site for the disposal of waste materials. The landfill is the oldest and most common form of waste disposal, although the systematic burial of the waste with daily, intermediate and final covers only began in the 1940s.

The so-called landfill of Kathmandu is in Sisadol where all the waste from the household, factories, and other outlets are disposed of there. We as humans do not reuse, recycles, or reduce our waste but instead our responsibility is limited to the waste disposal to the municipality that collects waste from us.

When are we going to wake up and do something about this? is this the world we are leaving for the future generation?
